2007 MNRB SCHOLARSHIP FUND, a fund established by MNRB HOLDINGS BERHAD (a Company listed on the Main Board of the Bursa Malaysia and a subsidiary company of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB)), invites scholarship applications from suitably qualified young Malaysians who have successfully completed their SPM/STPM and are planning to pursue a Matriculation, Diploma, First Degree or Professional course on a full-time basis at any recognised local institution of higher learning.

There is a bond where one needs to serve a stipulated period of compulsory service with the Company or any of its subsidiaries or any other organizations as directed by Scholarship Fund. The bonding period would depend on the amount expended on the candidates during the duration of his/her studies. However, this is not to be construed as an obligation upon the Scholarship Fund to provide employment to the candidate.

Field Of Study
Accountancy, Actuarial Science, Economics, Engineering, Human Resource Management, Information Technology, Insurance/Risk Management, Marketing and Statistics.

Eligibility

  1. Should be below 23 years of age.
  2. Should obtain at least grade 2A for a minimum of 6 subjects inclusive of English, Mathematics and Science at the SPM examination; OR
  3. Should obtain at least 3As and passed the General Paper at the Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) examination; OR
    Should obtain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 3.5 for Diploma or Matriculation.
  4. Must have proof of financial needs.
  5. Must write a short 1-page essay (in English and on a separate sheet of paper) describing reasons for applying the scholarship, benefit from the course of study including education and career plans.
  6. Preference will be given to those involved in co-curricular activities.
  7. Must not be a recipient of a scholarship/loan/financial assistance from any other organisation.
  8. Employees working in the local insurance/takaful industry or their children are encouraged to apply.
  9. The offer is subject to the applicants gaining entry into the recognised local institute of higher learning to pursue the approved courses.
  10. Candidates with SPM/STPM TRIAL RESULTS, who meet the above mentioned selection criteria are also encouraged to apply. Selected candidates will be given a provisional offer subject to the variance between the actual results and the trial results being within an acceptable range.
Scholarship Value
Tuition fees based on actuals for students pursuing studies at public universities or colleges and a maximum of RM8,000.00 per annum for students pursuing studies at private universities or colleges.
Allowance of RM4,000.00 per year for local Matriculation or Diploma courses and RM6,000.00 per year for First Degree or Professional courses.

A bond is attached to the scholarship, where the recipient may be required to serve any of the companies within the Group as designated by the Trustees of the MNRB Scholarship Fund.

Completed application forms with copies of relevant certificates and documents must reach the above address not later than January 5, 2007. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview. Ineligible candidates or those whose applications are incomplete or received after the due date will not be considered for the scholarship.
