Honda Scholarship Open To Applicants For Malaysian Students

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 18 (Bernama) -- The Honda Dreams Fund, which provides underprivileged youths with full Honda Scholarship to pursue higher education at private colleges and universities in the country, is now open to applicants.

Honda Dreams Fund Project (HDFP) advisory panel chairman, Datuk Dr Denison Jayasooria said the fund would offer 20 full Honda Scholarship this year for Malaysians aged 17 to 24 years and possessing at least a pass in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) examinations.

The youth must be from a family whose household income is RM1,500 and below.

"It is Honda's vision that young people be provided with opportunities to dream, dreams and to realise them. This is why Honda has established the HDFP together with the United Nations Development Fund (UNDP)," Denison, who is Malaysian Human Rights Commissioner said in a statement Thursday.

He said the selection committee was looking for 20 Malaysian youths, not necessarily with excellent academic qualifications, but for someone with a dream.

Interested youths must write a 500-word essay beginning with `Honda Dreams Fund is the opportunity I have been waiting for to realise my dreams. Since I am young, I have always aspired to be ...."

Other information that must be given are name, address, identification card number, gender, telephone number, marital status, age and the number of siblings.

In addition, applicants must attach a photocopy of their identity card, certified copy of SPM or STPM certificate, school leaving certificate, testimonial or referees, EA Form or J Form or any other document that verifies income.

Applications must be sent before Feb 6, 2007 to Honda Dreams Fund, P.O. Box 12544, 50782 Kuala Lumpur.
