Scholarship Info
JAPAN Airlines is inviting Malaysian undergraduates and postgraduates to take part in the JAL Scholarship
Programme 2007.
The annual programme brings together 36 scholars from 11 countries in the Asia and Oceania region. Malaysian scholars will be taking part with
their counterparts from Australia, China, Indonesia, Korea, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
The JAL Scholarship Programme was established in 1975 to groom scholars from the Asia and Oceania region into future leaders. So far, 1,286
scholars including 137 from Malaysia have benefited from the programme.
This year, the JAL Scholarship Programme 2007 will run from July 4 to 25 in Japan. It consists of five major components – Lectures for
Globally Minded Citizens, Field Trips, Student Sessions, Asia Forum Symposium and Homestays in Tokyo and Kanazawa.
The theme for this year is Challenges for the Future. It aims to bring together people who can think and approach globalisation from many
different angles to move in a positive direction for the future of the region.
Scholars will explore ways to meet present and future challenges and suggest possible solutions to solve environmental upheavals, religious
and cultural conflicts, the threat of unknown deadly diseases and the spread of weapons of mass destruction.
