Founded and fully-funded by Maxis as part of its extensive Corporate Social Responsibility campaign, the Maxis Scholarship For Excellence Award is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for outstanding young individuals to fulfill their dreams and aspirations of creating a better society, a richer culture and a greater nation.

The Maxis Scholarship For Excellence Award is an effort to nurture a forward-thinking and progressive new generation of Malaysians. It is open to young and outstanding Malaysians who have gained admittance to top UK universities and US universities

Allowing the best and brightest graduate students to pursue courses in a selection of programmes at the world’s top universities, Maxis Scholarship For Excellence promises academic excellence and broader personal horizons. For young and outstanding Malaysians who strive to set standards for themselves as well as others, Maxis Scholarship For Excellence presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to embark upon a journey that will lead them to the realization of their greatest goals. Scholars and high-achievers who believe they may satisfy the Scholarship’s firm criteria, are therefore urged to set the realization of their dreams into motion.

Successful applicants will be awarded the opportunity of a postgraduate scholarship to pursue their academic goals at the world’s most prestigious universities.

Maxis Scholarship For Excellence

Field Of Study
Five successful applicants will be awarded a postgraduate scholarship at the world's most prestigious universities to pursue a course in Life Sciences and Engineering, Medicine, Business and Management Studies, Law and Government Studies and The Performing Arts.

Eligibility

  1. Ideal applicants for Maxis’ Scholarship For Excellence must have already gained admittance to a top US or UK university.
    Aged 30 years or below.
  2. Achieved a minimum of a 2nd Class Upper Honours (or equivalent) degree from a good university.
  3. Have a minimum of three years working experience.
  4. Have a strong appreciation and appetite for current affairs (for example, a general knowledge of Malaysia’s constitutional and legal framework, economic levers, government initiatives and nation building philosophies).
  5. Demonstrate a continuing involvement in extra-curricular activities (team or individual sports; voluntary service; affiliation with a recognized association or society) as well as special achievements in academics, social work or similar contributions.
  6. Possess the traits of an ambassador for Malaysia, with a sense of loyalty and identification for the country. There should also be evidence of a clear sense of purpose and goals in life, as well as a display of visionary capabilities.
How to apply
Along with the application form , applicants must submit the following to the Scholarship Committee
  1. Proof of age
  2. Two copies of academic transcripts that have been certified as True copies by the universities or schools from where the applicant graduated.
  3. Letter of admission from the university.
  4. Three letters of recommendation from people who are qualified to provide insight into the applicant’s potential for success and leadership.
  5. Statement of purpose from the applicant indicating how the chosen course of study fits in with the applicant’s past record and chosen course of study.
  6. Any other documents that applicants wish to submit to strengthen their application including copies of articles written, reports of volunteer work, extra curricular certificates etc.

Upon submission, the Scholarship Committee will review the applications and shortlist candidates for interviews. There will be up to three rounds of interviews before the final list of scholars is announced.
