The Australian Scholarships

The Australian Government has announced a major new initiative to increase regional education links between Australian and the Asia-Pacific. The Australian Scholarships initiative will provide AUD1.4 billion (approximately RM3.8 billion) over five years, to fund more than 19,000 scholarships. For Malaysia, the total value of the scholarship package stands at AUD31.6 million (RM85.3 million).

Australian Scholarships brings together the key scholarship programs of the Australian Government and provides additional funding to double the size of the program. Malaysians are eligible for Australian Scholarships, including a new program, Australian Leadership Awards, which will enable current and future leaders in business, education and government to undertake advanced study.

The scholarships are not merely fee-waiver arrangements, but include funding for educational, travel and living costs.

Many of the new Australian Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis across the Asia-Pacific. The Australian Scholarships exclusively for Malaysians will remain the Endeavour Malaysia Awards and Research Fellowships.
