Universiti Malaysia Sarawak Scholarship
The Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) was officially incorporated on 24th December 1992. With about 30 academic staff, the Universiti Malaysia
Sarawak opened its doors to the first batch of 118 students on 8th August 1993. The students were registered in the two pioneering faculties, the
Faculty of Social Science and the Faculty of Resource Science and Technology. Two academic support centres were also established: the Centre for
Applied Learning and Multimedia, and the Centre for Academic Information Services.
Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) is the eighth public university in Malaysia, and the first one initiated by the aspirations of Wawasan
2020.UNIMAS offers a unique environment for teaching, learning and research. As the first university in Sarawak, we spearhead ideas and effort to
shine in the Land of the Hornbills.
The Undergraduate Studies Division, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak coordinates all undergraduate degree programmes offered in the university and
serves as the secretariat for the University Senate (the highest decision-making body on academic affairs) as well as the Academic Planning &
Development Committee. It is directly responsible to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and Internationalization).
The Division’s main responsibility is to manage the intake of students into the various degree programmes, maintain their academic records and
ensure that all requirements under the university’s Academic Rules and Regulations are met before a student can graduate. In addition, the
Division is also responsible for ensuring that courses conducted comply with the approved curriculum structure, and assessments are carried out
in accordance with the university’s quality assurance guidelines.
UNIMAS is pleased to announce that the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak offering a limited number of partial Universiti Malaysia Sarawak
Scholarship, which would be in the form of tuition fees exemption and free accomodation, for selected undergraduate students commencing their
studies at the university in the 2007/2008 session.
Application for the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak Scholarship is open to all new undergraduate students and selection will be based on the
student’s academic excellence, and active participation in the university’s co-curriculla activities. The scholarship will be awarded to the
successful students for the duration of their undergraduate studies in Unimas, provided they maintain their excellent performance.
