GE Foundation Scholarship 2008

The Malaysian-American Commission on Educational Exchange (MACEE), in cooperation with the GE Foundation (USA), invites applications for the 2008 GE Foundation Scholars-Leaders Program or GE Foundation Scholarship 2008 is open to qualified undergraduates who gain admission into Malaysia higher education in the field of Business, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics and Physics at local universities.

Applications from ALL ethnic groups are highly encouraged.Completed applications must reach MACEE before February 8th 2008.

MIED Education Loan

Maju Institute of Education Development (MIED) offers RM43 million in loans with an average disbursement of RM6 million to RM7 million annually. The loans are open to all Malaysians.

Eligibility criteria
You must have at least five credits in the SPM examination. Priority is given to Malaysian students pursuing studies at Malaysian institutions.

Scholarships at Australian universities

LAUNCHED in October 2001, the Malaysian Australian Alumni Council (MACC) Scholarships build on the spirit of the Colombo Plan, which enabled some 4,000 Malaysians to study in Australia from the early 1950s until the mid-1980s.

The MACC Scholarships take the Colombo Plan a step further by providing for a two-way exchange of scholars between Malaysia and Australia. The scholarships include full or partial waivers of tuition fees and are offered to Malaysian and Australian students to undertake their tertiary education in each other’s countries.

The Asian Scholarship Foundation (ASF) is funded by a grant from the Ford Foundation. Its office in Bangkok administers the ASIA Fellows Awards in the region with assistance from partner offices in Beijing, New Delhi, Manila, Hanoi, and Jakarta.

The ASIA Fellows Awards offer opportunities for outstanding young and mid-career Asian scholars, and professionals to gain knowledge of the countries in the region and an understanding of the contexts that shape global and regional issues through research. They enable the awardees to conduct research in a participating Asian country for six to nine months.

THE Australian International School Malaysia (AISM) Academic Scholarships 2008/2009 are now open for application.

This year, three two-year scholarships will be made available to eligible Malaysian students. Those who are sitting for their SPM examinations this year may apply.

Last year’s scholarship recipients (from left) Joe Yang and Wan Xin are happy to discuss their happy study experience at AISM with Armstrong. The scholarship offers are for a two-year matriculation course (Years 11 and 12) at AISM, leading to the Higher School Certificate.

Students will be able to experience a fully Australian curriculum.
English is a compulsory subject (offered at Advanced, Standard and ESL levels) but students need to study for another four or five subjects.

Last year’s AISM Academic Scholarship winners – Sabrina Lim, Chin Joe Yang and Yeoh Wan Xin – have blended well with the AISM community, said AISM principal Anne-Maree Armstrong.

NST MAPCU Scholarship

The New Straits Times (NST) and Malaysian Association of Private Colleges & Universities (MAPCU) Scholarship Programme is a prestigious and comprehensive yearly plan offered to students of private colleges & universities in Malaysia. It is aimed at financially deserving students with satisfactory academic record, providing them the opportunity of quality private education.

In line with our government’s policy of establishing a caring society amongst Malaysians, MAPCU, through its participating member institutions, has made available approximately RM 2.40 million for the NST-MAPCU Scholarship . A total of 113 scholarships have been offered by 15 participating institutions.

Chevening award

HEALTHCARE company GlaxoSmithKline has formed a partnership with the British High Commission to co-fund the Chevening Scholarship for a Malaysian student planning to study in the United Kingdom.

The one-year scholarship worth about RM58,000 will cover tuition fees as well as book and living allowances in the United Kingdom.A signing ceremony between the two parties was held recently.The main objective in co-funding the scholarship is to provide an opportunity for a Malaysian student to do post-graduate study in a renowned institution of higher learning and experience the British culture.
