Bank Negara Malaysia Scholarship Award 2008 / 2009 Academic Session

Economics, Financial Engineering, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Banking And Finance, Corporate Finance, Islamic Banking And Economics, Law, Syariah Law, Information Technology, Mathematics.
A. PRE-UNIVERSITY, OVERSEAS PREPARATORY PROGRAMME

* A-LEVEL, AMERICAN FOUNDATION PROGRAM, AUSTRALIAN MATRICULATION

Minimum Requirements

* Passed the 2007 SPM examination with at least 8 1A’s
* Not exceeding 19 years old of age on 1 July 2008

Additional Requirements

* Good command of the English language, both written and oral
* Flexible, versatile and posses high teamwork capabilities
* Excelled in both extra-curricular activities and sports

Sponsorship to pursue Bachelor Degree (Honours) at foreign universities will be extended subject to meeting the approved criteria.

B. FIRST DEGREE (HONOURS) ( Application will be open from 24 March 2008 )

* LOCAL AND FOREIGN UNIVERSITIES

Minimum Requirements

Fulfilling at least one of the following criteria:

* STPM / A-Level - at least 2 A and 1 B; or
* Diploma / Matriculation - Cumulative Grade Point Aggregate (CGPA) of at least 3.50; or
* Australian Matriculation - TER of at least 85% ; or
* For candidates currently pursuing First Degree - Current CGPA of at least 3.50.
* Passed SPM with credits in Bahasa Melayu and English subjects
* Not exceeding 25 years of age on 1 July 2008
* Have confirmed or will be offered a place to pursue a First Degree in 2008 at recognised local or foreign universities

Additional Requirements

* Good command of the English language, both written and oral
* Flexible, versatile and posses high teamwork capabilities
* Excelled in both extra-curricular activities and sports

Students who are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) at recognised foreign universities are also eligible to apply.

C. MASTER’S DEGREE AND PhD

* (LOCAL and FOREIGN UNIVERSITIES)

Minimum Requirements

* Obtained a First Class (Honours) Bachelor / Master’s Degree or equivalent from recognised local and foreign universities
* Will pursue courses that will add value to the roles and functions of Bank Negara Malaysia
* Not exceeding 30 years old for Master and 35 years old for PhD.
* Passed SPM with credits in Bahasa Melayu and English subjects
* Have confirmed or will be offered a place to pursue Master’s / Doctorate Degree in 2008 at recognised local or foreign universities

Those who fulfilled the minimum requirements are required to send a written application to Scholarship Section, Bank Negara Malaysia along with these documents:

* Curriculum Vitae / Resume
* Certified copy of Bachelor Degree’s / Master’s Degree’s results
* Letter of recommendation from previous or current university
* One (1) page of Abstract / Executive Summary of your proposed research

Post graduate students who are currently pursuing Master’s Degree or Doctorate Degree (PhD) at recognised local or foreign universities are also eligible to apply.

CLOSING DATES

Pre-University: 7 Days after the SPM 2007 Results Are Announced
First Degree: 11 April 2008
Post Graduate: 30 April 2008

Hi there. I have a friend from Tajikistan and the country is really in poverty and because of that she is unable to pursue her dreams to further her studies. She is currently studying a distance learning economics from their local university which is not recognised anywhere in the world. She is a muslim from Tajikistan. I had been to the Bank Negara to ask for the appication forms manually, but they said the application only can be done through internet. However, the online system is a bit unstable, so many applicants tried to log in but failed. Could someone suggest better way to get the forms?

i’ve 4A’s for my SPM in 2005, n i’m now pursuing my diploma in Management studies. i’m in my final year n my CGPA is increasing til the rate of 3.27 (I ‘m very confident that I wil be able to increase my CGPA in the future.) I’m in my second year and my CGPA is 3.84. I’m very confident that i able to maintain and increase my CGPA in the future.

I encountered an error during registeration, so I do hope anyone can help me with this ASAP due to the deadline….not to forget, I’m currently in NS and obtained 9A’s for SPM. I want to pursue my study in biomedical Science either locally or overseas but my family cant afford me. Both my parents had retired and i hv 4 younger sisters to support. With is scholarship, my financial problem definitely can be solved and also reduce my family burden. Thanks in advance~

I’ve just graduated my Honours year in Architecture in Scotland and would like to accept the offer to continue into the post-graduate program. My purpose for applying to graduate school is to both expand on my existing knowledge and to create additional opportunities for myself in the future. I believe that graduate school will prepare me for a successful and challenging career in the rural development sector.
Even though I have chosen dynamics as my field of specialization, I am keeping my mind open to other areas of aerospace so that I do not limit myself. I am currently working at HIV/AIDS Coordinating Committee (HACC), networking of 110 NGOs working with HIV/AIDS epidemic in Cambodia, in an academic full time position of Program Volunteer and some previous work experience in business sector and I believe that this first hand experience will clarify my future educational needs and directions.
My diverse work experiences have given me a better understanding of what opportunities are available to me. There is so much that I would want to learn and understand. I have always been fascinated with the space program, and some day, I want to be instrumental in operating in the space program.
I have wanted to be a rural development worker ever since my father shared with me some of his published OVC articles. I have always been a hard worker and have shown that I can handle a diverse work load incorporating work and college into college into my schedule.
I believe that UNEP can provide me with the tools to succeed in the rural development sector. I have enjoyed attending UNEP as an undergraduate student and would enjoy being a graduate student here as well.

I am not happy about the scholarship requirements. I am interested to take master degree but find myself 6 years above the required age and I am not a first class bachelor degree. There shouldn’t be so much stringent requirements for master’s degree. People pursuing Masters degree is about been given a second chance to better themselves.

With the global recession, many workers are getting laid off and government is promising retraining schemes, I believe this is one of the avenues :- scholarships for older less well qualified Malaysians to pursue a master degree overseas. The government has been doing this all this while, I find it hard to believe that it takes so much trouble just to make education open for all.

I also would want PTPTN to cover loans to study overseas as well, particularly Australia, NZ and Singapore. EPF contributions should not just concentrate on local universities and colleges but also to regional as well such as Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, India, Australia and NZ.

I don’t think attending seminars or computer lessons is going to better ordinary M’sians retrenched from work. What we need is to turn ourselves into skilled employees by obtaining a bachelor or master degree.

Hi there,

Im a first year management undergraduate student in Universiti of Sains Malaysia (USM).

I would like to enquire that will there be a credit transfer from a local uni to a foreign uni?

Say if I put one of my choices as USM ( as to continue my studies with BNM scholarship), will that be approprate?

How do you go about my case?

i’ve finished my SPM 2008, with quite good results,12A’s 2B’s including 4 A2’s and 2 B3’s. i plan to further my studies for A-levels. Instead of going smoothly, i face some economical problems. Currently, i need someone to offer me a sponsorship or scholarship that i may continue my studies unhindered. I am Nurul Rafhana. Being a Form 4 student currently in an international school, I will be sitting for my IGCSE 2009 in 2011.
