PSD Guidelines For Application of Scholarships For Professional Programs – Local and Overseas. The Public Services Department (PSD) provides scholarships to students who have already graduated with scholarships from PSD. These students may again apply to further their studies for Master and Professional Programs (local and overseas) as long as the terms and criteria of the applications are met.

Students who obtain 10 1As in the 2007 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and whose family income does not exceed RM1,500 a month will be automatically given a Public Service Department (PSD) scholarship.

However, they will still need to fulfil the criteria for the Overseas Scholarship Programme, as well as undergo the interview process, said a statement by PSD yesterday.

Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia (TECO) is pleased to announce 1.Taiwan Scholarship Program 2008 and 2. TaiwanICDF International Higher Education Scholarship Programs 2008:

1. Taiwan Scholarship Program 2008 (applicants can choose any university in Taiwan )

This scholarship will allow 9 Malaysians to pursue a Bachelor, Master or Doctoral Degree of their choice at any university in Taiwan starting from September 2008. The award period for each study program varies as follows:

(1) Undergraduate program: maximum 4 years, monthly stipends NT$25,000
(2) Master’s program: maximum 2 years, monthly stipends NT$30,000
(3) Doctoral program: maximum 3 years, monthly stipends NT$30,000
(4) All successful scholarship candidates can choose additional pre-degree Mandarin Language Enrichment Program (LEP) for 1 year with monthly stipends NT$25,000
Taiwan Scholarship Program 2008 provides only monthly stipends to scholarship recipients. The costs of tuition, board and lodging, books, medical insurance, airfare to Taiwan and other expenses will be defrayed by themselves. And all candidates must apply to their chosen university in Taiwan for degree program at the same time or apply to university-affiliated Chinese language centers for those who choose additional LEP Program.

2. TaiwanICDF International Higher Education Scholarship Programs 2008 (applicants can only choose from 15 cooperative universities and specific departments )

This scholarship is provided by TaiwanICDF (Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund ) and will allow Malaysians to pursue a Master or Doctoral Degree in 15 cooperative universities and their specific departments. All programs are taught in English. TaiwanICDF will provide airfare to Taiwan, dormitories, tuition fee and monthly allowance as follows:

(1) Master Program: monthly allowance: NT$: 15,000
(2) Doctoral Program: monthly allowance: NT$:17,000

The Italian Government Scholarship

The Italian Embassy is located at no. 99, Jalan U Thant, in an area of town traditionally home to a number of Diplomatic Missions.
The main road that crosses this area, Jalan Ampang, is accordingly known as “Embassy Row” due to the many Embassies and High Commissions that surround both sides of the street.

The Residence of the Ambassador is situated not far from the Embassy, on Jalan Ampang Hilir, also known for its prestigious and elegant both colonial and modern homes.

The Italian Government Scholarship Program, applicable to different fields of study, is offered to Malaysian citizens every year. The program which started in the academic year 1999/2000 and has granted more than 80 Italian Government Scholarship.

The Italian Ministry of Foreign affairs is offering scholarships to Malaysian citizens. The candidates will be selected by the Italian-Malaysian joint Committee, chaired by the First Secretary of the Embassy of Italy.

The Social Security Organization provides social security protection by social insurance including medical and cash benefits, provision of artificial aids and rehabilitation to employees to reduce the sufferings and to provide financial guarantees and protection to the family.

SOCSO is the abbreviation for Social Security Organization. It is commonly known in the Malay term as PERKESO or Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial.

One of the benefits, which SOCSO provides for Malaysians is the education benefit, which comes in the form of a loan disbursed out to dependent children who are recipients of a monthly benefit for Dependent’s Benefit,  Survivor’s Pension, children of an employee who are recipients of a monthly benefit of Permanent Disablement and Invalidity Pension

Although this benefit is in the form of a loan, it can, however, be converted into a scholarship if the child obtains excellent result.

MARA Scholarship Programs

To provide financial aid for college and universities to potential and qualified bumiputera students to further studies at institutions of higher learning in the fields of science, technology, professional, expertise , management and others required by the private sector and the country in order to increase the number of Bumiputera participation in the trade and industry sectors.

MARA Scholarship Programs

Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional Malaysia (PTPTN) was established to help students gain entry to Higher Level Institutions of Education in Public (IPTA) and Private (IPTS) sector.
This financial aid& program was established in 1999 and is mainly focused on students who have gained admission to local universities but are unable to further their studies due to financial constraints. Applications are only open to students who have gained admission at local universities or private colleges. PTPTN  will evaluate the financial background of the applicant’s family before approving the application. Decision made by the authority is final. No correspondence will be entertain.
