Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia (TECO) is pleased to announce 1.Taiwan Scholarship Program 2008 and 2. TaiwanICDF International Higher Education Scholarship Programs 2008:

1. Taiwan Scholarship Program 2008 (applicants can choose any university in Taiwan )

This scholarship will allow 9 Malaysians to pursue a Bachelor, Master or Doctoral Degree of their choice at any university in Taiwan starting from September 2008. The award period for each study program varies as follows:

(1) Undergraduate program: maximum 4 years, monthly stipends NT$25,000
(2) Master’s program: maximum 2 years, monthly stipends NT$30,000
(3) Doctoral program: maximum 3 years, monthly stipends NT$30,000
(4) All successful scholarship candidates can choose additional pre-degree Mandarin Language Enrichment Program (LEP) for 1 year with monthly stipends NT$25,000
Taiwan Scholarship Program 2008 provides only monthly stipends to scholarship recipients. The costs of tuition, board and lodging, books, medical insurance, airfare to Taiwan and other expenses will be defrayed by themselves. And all candidates must apply to their chosen university in Taiwan for degree program at the same time or apply to university-affiliated Chinese language centers for those who choose additional LEP Program.

2. TaiwanICDF International Higher Education Scholarship Programs 2008 (applicants can only choose from 15 cooperative universities and specific departments )

This scholarship is provided by TaiwanICDF (Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund ) and will allow Malaysians to pursue a Master or Doctoral Degree in 15 cooperative universities and their specific departments. All programs are taught in English. TaiwanICDF will provide airfare to Taiwan, dormitories, tuition fee and monthly allowance as follows:

(1) Master Program: monthly allowance: NT$: 15,000
(2) Doctoral Program: monthly allowance: NT$:17,000

The Lions Club of Subang Jaya - FC Yap Scholarship Fund 2008 for UTAR under-graduates in memory of our beloved late member, Lion Yap Foo Cheow (Lion FC Yap).Lion FC Yap, a distinguished Lion, was well known for his fondness for youths and for education; and for his compassion for the less fortunate. This Scholarship Fund is to build upon the legacy created by Lion FC Yap, to continue with his works of philanthropy, and to represent a show of solidarity amongst the members of the Club.

The Club’s aim is to advance and improve the quality of life of the less fortunate, especially the youth, directly and indirectly; and to help alleviate their needs and sufferings, in the form of financial assistance for their education.

Two scholarships worth RM9,000 will be given out to deserving UTAR final year students. This is to subsidize the needy and talented students by sponsoring their tuition fees and living expenses.

Criteria To ensure that the most deserving students are selected for the scholarship awards, the following attributes will be considered:

* Academic achievements (SPM, STPM, UTAR, etc..)
* Financial standing of family;
* Character of candidate;
* Extra-curricular activities
* Leadership qualities

* Malaysians only;
* Must not be bonded or be a recipient of any scholarship/financial assistance from other organizations or institutions;
* Full-time under-graduate students at UTAR

NST-MAPCU Scholarship Fund 2007-2008

Students who have recently completed their A-Levels, STPM or SPM examinations and who intend to pursue tertiary courses at Malaysian Association of Private Colleges & Universities (MAPCU) member institutions are invited to apply for the NST-MAPCU Scholarship Fund.

Please apply directly to the member institution of your choice. There is no official closing date. The scholarship will be available until it has been offered.

The Wesleyan Freeman Asian Scholarship Program provides expenses for a four-year course of study toward a bachelor’’s degree for up to twenty-two exceptionally able Asian students annually from these countries and regions: the People’’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

* Applications must be postmarked by January 1, 2008.
* Students are advised to register now for SAT and TOEFL or IELTS.
* Notification by April 1, 2008.
* Japan notification by March 1, 2008.

Wesleyan is now accepting applications for participation in the Wesleyan Freeman Asian Scholarship Program. The chosen applicants will join 2,800 other Wesleyan undergraduates from throughout the United States and nearly 50 countries for study with an outstanding teaching and research faculty in the sciences and mathematics, the arts, the humanities, and the social and behavioral sciences.

GE Foundation Scholarship 2008

The Malaysian-American Commission on Educational Exchange (MACEE), in cooperation with the GE Foundation (USA), invites applications for the 2008 GE Foundation Scholars-Leaders Program or GE Foundation Scholarship 2008 is open to qualified undergraduates who gain admission into Malaysia higher education in the field of Business, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics and Physics at local universities.

Applications from ALL ethnic groups are highly encouraged.Completed applications must reach MACEE before February 8th 2008.

MIED Education Loan

Maju Institute of Education Development (MIED) offers RM43 million in loans with an average disbursement of RM6 million to RM7 million annually. The loans are open to all Malaysians.

Eligibility criteria
You must have at least five credits in the SPM examination. Priority is given to Malaysian students pursuing studies at Malaysian institutions.

Scholarships at Australian universities

LAUNCHED in October 2001, the Malaysian Australian Alumni Council (MACC) Scholarships build on the spirit of the Colombo Plan, which enabled some 4,000 Malaysians to study in Australia from the early 1950s until the mid-1980s.

The MACC Scholarships take the Colombo Plan a step further by providing for a two-way exchange of scholars between Malaysia and Australia. The scholarships include full or partial waivers of tuition fees and are offered to Malaysian and Australian students to undertake their tertiary education in each other’s countries.
