The Scholarship is open to all Malaysians who are granted a place in our Local Public Universities and it’s catered especially for students in the lower income families. Below are some information pertaining to the Scholarship 2008 Program

Eligibility

• Good STPM results or completed Diploma level (CGPA 3.00)
• Has a good command of English Language both written and spoken.
• A record of active participation in extra curricular activities.
• Not bonded or holding any other scholarship or receiving financial assistance from any organization.
• Must have a confirmed placement from Local Malaysian Public Universities.
• This scholarship program is catered exclusively for the lower income families.

FAQ Regarding IGB Scholarship

Q1 – I have just completed Form 5 and achieved 10As in the recent SPM Examination. Am I eligible to apply for this scholarship?

A1 – No, you must have at least completed your STPM or Diploma level and enrolled for a full-time degree programme in any Local Malaysian Public Universities.

Q2 – I am awaiting result/offer into any local Public Universities and the closing date for this scholarship is approaching, can i wait for the offer before submitting the application to IGB?

A2 – We suggest you submit the application to us stating your first and second choice of course on or before the closing date and later mail us the official/online-printed offer letter once you have received it.

Q3 – I am pursuing my degree in a local university i.e. MMU, UNITEN, UTP etc. Can I apply?

A3 – No, this scholarship is open only to student enrolled in any full-time degree programme in Local Malaysian Public Universities i.e. UM, UPM, USM, UKM, UTM etc.

Q4 – Will I be bonded by the company upon the completion my studies?

A4 – Yes, the company will offer you employment opportunities upon the completion of your studies for a period of 2 years but if there are no vacancies available, students are free to seek employment elsewhere after a stipulated period of time.

Q5 – How will I receive the full scholarship value of RM40,000 ?

A5 – All school fees and any other fees including hostel accommodation (if applicable) shall be paid directly by the company to your respective university. In addition, you will be also receiving RM350 monthly for your living expenses. You may also purchase books and stationery item for study purpose up to a maximum of RM500 for the entire duration of study.

Q6 – I’m currently in Year 3 and shall complete my course in another year, am I still eligible to apply?

A6 – Yes, you are still eligible to apply for scholarship irregardless whether you are in your 1st, 2nd, 3rd or even final year of studies. However, you current CGPA will be taken into consideration besides your STPM results.

Q7 – What is the other criteria used for selecting students to be awarded this scholarship?

A7 – The students’ leadership qualities/character, active participation in extra curricular/ sports activities, family income and background etc. will be some of the factors to be considered.

Q8 – How many students will be awarded this scholarship?

A8 – In the past, IGB in collaboration with Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Foundation has provided between 5 to 10 Full Scholarship Awards. One-time Cash Grant shall also be given out for deserving and needy students.

Q9 – Can I apply for this scholarship if I am currently receiving PTPTN loan, which I need to repay upon completion of my studies?

A9 – Yes, provided that once you have been awarded The IGB Scholarship, you are to terminate and repay the PTPTN loan.
