CONDITIONS FOR APPLICATION

1. Only Malaysian citizens are eligible to apply.
2. Kuok Foundation study awards are for needy students only.
3. Applicants should possess good academic qualifications and should be active in school.

TYPE OF AWARDS:
I. KUOK FOUNDATION UNDERGRADUATE AWARDS

A. For Malaysian Public and Singapore Public Universities

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants who are applying for or currently pursuing a first degree full-time and on-campus at any one of the Malaysian and Singapore universities are eligible to apply. This means students doing off campus / twinning / franchised courses / distance learning courses from these universities are not eligible.

TIME OF APPLICATION

Will be announced in the local news media soon after the release of STPM results.

PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATION

Applicants can write to the Kuok Foundation or come to the office for forms in response to the announcement. Requests for forms must be accompanied by a copy of the latest examination results slip (SPM / STPM / University results or equivalent) and a stamped self-addressed envelope of size 16.5cm x 25cm.

All applications must be submitted before the closing date stipulated in the announcement. Late applications will not be considered.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified for interview.

TYPE OF AWARD

Interest free study loan or half-loan half-grant. No service bond.

VALUE OF AWARD
(subject to revision from time to time)

For Malaysian universities
- RM8,000 to RM9,000 p.a. depending on course pursued.

For Singapore universities
- Up to a maximum of RM28,000 p.a. for Medicine/Dentistry.
- Up to RM20,000 p.a. for other courses

FIELD OF STUDY

Any discipline but preference will be given to Science-based courses.

REPAYMENT OF LOAN

B. For Malaysian Private Universities / Colleges

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants who are applying for or are currently pursuing “3+0” degree programmes full-time and on-campus at selected universities / colleges are eligible to apply. See current list of selected universities / colleges below. This list is subject to change from time to time.

TIME OF APPLICATION

Will be announced in the respective institutions / local news media / around December / January and July / August each year.

PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATION

Application forms can be downloaded from http://www.kuokfoundation.com or applicants can request for forms from the respective institutions or write to Kuok Foundation / come to the office for forms in copy of the latest examination results slip (SPM / STPM / University / College results or equivalent) and a stamped self-addressed envelope of size 16.5cm x 25cm

All applications must be submitted before the closing date stipulated in the announcement.

Late applications will not be considered.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified for interview.

II. TUN HUSSEIN ONN MEMORIAL POST-GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP IN LAW TENABLE AT UNIVERSITY OF MALAYA

ELIGIBLILTY

Applicants of age 35 years and below who have obtained a minimum of Class II Upper Hons in Law or its equivalent from any recognised university and must qualify for admission into University of Malaya for the LLM programme. Only applicants doing full time studies will be considered.

TIME OF APPLICATION

Will be announced in University of Malaya between April to June each year.

PROCEDURES FOR APPLICATION Application forms are available from Kuok Foundation.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified for interview.

VALUE OF SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship will cover course fees as well as a stipend of RM15,000 per annum for living expenses. An additional allowance of RM1,800 will be provided for dissertation, if applicable.

DURATION OF SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship will be offered for 1 year only to candidates doing LLM by coursework and up to 2 years for candidates doing LLM by dissertation or by coursework and dissertation.

III. KUOK FOUNDATION POST-GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP TENABLE AT LOCAL PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES

ELIGIBLILTY

For M.Sc students, not more than 30 years of age and holding a Bachelor’s Degree with at least a Second Class Upper Honours or CGPA of 3.5 and above in Science, Engineering or Technology related field.

For Ph.D students, not more than 35 years of age and holding a relevant Masters Degree or a Bachelor’s Degree with First Class Honours or CGPA of 3.7 and above in Science, Engineering or Technology related field.

Must not be bonded or be in receipt of any financial aids or awards from other organisations / institutions at time of application.

TIME OF APPLICATION

Will be announced in the local news media / http://www.studymalaysia.com website around June / July each year.

PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATION

Application forms can be downloaded from http://www.studymalaysia.com or applicants can write to the Kuok Foundation / come to the office for forms in response to the announcement. Requests for forms must be accompanied by a copy of the latest examination results slip (first degree / Masters degree result transcript) and a stamped self-addressed envelope of size 16.5cm x 25cm.

All applications must be submitted before the closing date stipulated in the announcement. Late applications will not be considered.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified for interview.

VALUE & DURATION OF SCHOLARSHIP

For Masters Degree, maximum RM28,000 p.a. for up to 2 years.

For Doctorate, maximum RM38,000 p.a. for up to 3 years.

FIELD OF STUDY

Full-time research in science and technology that is relevant to the country’s needs, for example, biotechnology, composite materials, advanced materials, environmental technology, marine & aquaculture technology, poultry & poultry based products and resource-based products.

BOND

Upon completion of studies, the scholars must remain in Malaysia to work for the public or private sector for a minimum period of 5 years.

IV. KUOK FOUNDATION POLYTECHNIC AWARDS

For Malaysian Public and Singapore Public Polytechnics

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants who have obtained admission to or are currently pursuing diploma / certificate courses at any one of the government polytechnics in Malaysia and Singapore are eligible to apply.

TIME OF APPLICATION

Will be announced in the respective polytechnics around January / February and July / August for Malaysian polytechnics and August / September for Singapore polytechnics.

PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATION

Applicants can request for forms from the polytechnics in response to the announcement. Requests for forms must be accompanied by a copy of the latest examination results slip (SPM / Polytechnic results or equivalent).

All applications must be submitted before the closing date stipulated in the announcement. Late applications will not be considered.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified for interview.

TYPE OF AWARD

For Malaysian polytechnics
- study grant, no service bond.

For Singapore polytechnics
- interest free study loan or half-loan half-grant, no service bond.

VALUE OF AWARD
(subject to revision from time to time)

For Malaysian polytechnics – RM 5,000 p.a.

For Singapore polytechnics – RM 12,000 p.a.

FIELD OF STUDY

Any discipline but preference will be given to Science-based courses.

REPAYMENT OF LOAN

By monthly instalments commencing one (1) month after completion of course (for Singapore polytechnics).

i would like to pursue medicine and i need scholarship to do so because my family can’t afford it as my father had retired. i ask from the bottom of my heart from the KUOK committee to give me an oppurtunity to get this scholarship. i hope i would be given scholarsnip and i will be very thankful to KUOK if i get this scholarship.

Hello and thanks for this website. I scored 12A1 in the 2007 spm examination. I have applied for several scholarships but am only called up for one. I was also called up to walk the hospital for 5 days as a preliminary round to my JPA interview. What bothers me is the uncertainty whether I will be successfully selected for the course I really desire? As I come from an average income family, this course is too costly for my parents to bear. Sad as it may be, I would like to know from your kind sir whether you can extend your assistance by offering a medical scholarship should I fail to secure the JPA scholarship? Thanks for your time.

I’m 2007 stpm student, and i’m in science stream, but my stpm results was not so well because i’m not really interest in what i study. Now i’ve find out that i’m interested in the marketing course that offered by INTI international university college in Nilai, can i apply KUOK by using my spm result? I have 8As, 2Bs, 1C for my spm results, where the 2Bs and 1C are Physics, Chemistry and Biology. If yes, how can i apply for it? Or i can still use my stpm results to apply with my CGPA 1.80? And may i know when is your closing date for this foundation scholarship? Thank you very much.

i just noticed this scholarship application form.is there too late for me to apply.i am one of the top ten student in perak.and the subjects i took were account, economy, business, math s and pengajian Am with the CGPA of 4.0.i am very interested in the field of investment especially in foreign currency.in nasional level, i obtained the third place of essey competion.and iam quite active in my co-curiculum.
The puspose that i apply for this scolarship is to relieve the burden of my family financial restraint problem and to continue pursuit my studies.actually, this is the first time i apply scolarship from internet. i am not very sure is that too late for me.on this few months, i am busying working as direct sales.that is why i have missed up many golden opporturnities.Any way, i would like to attend any interview convenient to you.

I would like to enquire whether I can apply for a scholarship to pursue my further studies. Actually I wanted to do Form 6 but circumstances have prevailed upon me to do A-Levels in one of the local colleges. My parents have retired and there is financial constraint. i had filled and sent my application form…. I have filled the first choice of course and university with the pharmacy course and National University of Singapore….. However, i am now just received the offer letter from NUS and i have been offered Science course (my second choice)….. I am also very interested in the Science course and i need the scholarship…. hello.i would like to pursue my manegement degree course in Multimedia Malaysia University at the mid-year of year 2008 and i have been offered the intaked letter.the total cost for this course is about 40k.My family are not able to let me taking it since that my father is working as a hawker and my mother is a full-time housewife.My sister who is elder than me 1 year is also offered the intaked letter to pursue her Human Resourses Course in Multimedia Malaysia University(Melaka Campus).In other words,it means that my parent have to send their two daugthers go for degree courses at the same time.i realise that it is imposible because they are not able to do so.Some time,as a children,especially a children came from low-income family,’higher education’ will be a day-dream for them and hard to reach it.By saying so,i am not blaming my faith or even my family,i just try to let Sir/Madam understand what is in my mind.I also understand that maybe i can wait for public university and then study at which university and what course they offer to me.But i worry about my family if i have to study at far and they too.My father is reaching 59 years old and have high blood presure.Being a hawker,he have to stand under the hot sun every morning taking his high blood presure pills daily. And he also work as part-time taxi driver at afternoon.My mother also suffers her heath problem and will go for her ovary surgery at this may.I describe all of this at here is not going to ‘show-off’ what,but i just hope that Sir/Madam will more understand my situation.

I would like to ask whether i am qualified to apply for the KUOK Foundation Scholarship as i have just received my A Level result and i got A’s in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and B in Biology.
I would like to have a course of Bachelor of Pharmacy in UCSI ( University College Sedaya International) Malaysia. I will start the course for the July intake next year.

To whom it may concern,
I am a single mother and my son is the final semester of his diploma in Pharmacy at a private college with a cgpa of 3.5 and above (finishing in March 2011). He intends to pursue his BPharm either locally or in India or Indonesia, whichever is covered by a scholarship as I am the sole breadwinner with a younger son who will be sitting for his SPM this year, 2010.
