CONDITIONS FOR APPLICATION

1. Only Malaysian citizens are eligible to apply.
2. Kuok Foundation study awards are for needy students only.
3. Applicants should possess good academic qualifications and should be active in school.

TYPE OF AWARDS:
I. KUOK FOUNDATION UNDERGRADUATE AWARDS

A. For Malaysian Public and Singapore Public Universities

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants who are applying for or currently pursuing a first degree full-time and on-campus at any one of the Malaysian and Singapore universities are eligible to apply. This means students doing off campus / twinning / franchised courses / distance learning courses from these universities are not eligible.

TIME OF APPLICATION

Will be announced in the local news media soon after the release of STPM results.

PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATION

Applicants can write to the Kuok Foundation or come to the office for forms in response to the announcement. Requests for forms must be accompanied by a copy of the latest examination results slip (SPM / STPM / University results or equivalent) and a stamped self-addressed envelope of size 16.5cm x 25cm.

All applications must be submitted before the closing date stipulated in the announcement. Late applications will not be considered.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified for interview.

TYPE OF AWARD

Interest free study loan or half-loan half-grant. No service bond.

VALUE OF AWARD
(subject to revision from time to time)

For Malaysian universities
- RM8,000 to RM9,000 p.a. depending on course pursued.

For Singapore universities
- Up to a maximum of RM28,000 p.a. for Medicine/Dentistry.
- Up to RM20,000 p.a. for other courses

FIELD OF STUDY

Any discipline but preference will be given to Science-based courses.

REPAYMENT OF LOAN

B. For Malaysian Private Universities / Colleges

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants who are applying for or are currently pursuing “3+0” degree programmes full-time and on-campus at selected universities / colleges are eligible to apply. See current list of selected universities / colleges below. This list is subject to change from time to time.

TIME OF APPLICATION

Will be announced in the respective institutions / local news media / around December / January and July / August each year.

PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATION

Application forms can be downloaded from http://www.kuokfoundation.com or applicants can request for forms from the respective institutions or write to Kuok Foundation / come to the office for forms in copy of the latest examination results slip (SPM / STPM / University / College results or equivalent) and a stamped self-addressed envelope of size 16.5cm x 25cm

All applications must be submitted before the closing date stipulated in the announcement.

Late applications will not be considered.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified for interview.

II. TUN HUSSEIN ONN MEMORIAL POST-GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP IN LAW TENABLE AT UNIVERSITY OF MALAYA

ELIGIBLILTY

Applicants of age 35 years and below who have obtained a minimum of Class II Upper Hons in Law or its equivalent from any recognised university and must qualify for admission into University of Malaya for the LLM programme. Only applicants doing full time studies will be considered.

TIME OF APPLICATION

Will be announced in University of Malaya between April to June each year.

PROCEDURES FOR APPLICATION Application forms are available from Kuok Foundation.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified for interview.

VALUE OF SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship will cover course fees as well as a stipend of RM15,000 per annum for living expenses. An additional allowance of RM1,800 will be provided for dissertation, if applicable.

DURATION OF SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship will be offered for 1 year only to candidates doing LLM by coursework and up to 2 years for candidates doing LLM by dissertation or by coursework and dissertation.

III. KUOK FOUNDATION POST-GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP TENABLE AT LOCAL PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES

ELIGIBLILTY

For M.Sc students, not more than 30 years of age and holding a Bachelor’s Degree with at least a Second Class Upper Honours or CGPA of 3.5 and above in Science, Engineering or Technology related field.

For Ph.D students, not more than 35 years of age and holding a relevant Masters Degree or a Bachelor’s Degree with First Class Honours or CGPA of 3.7 and above in Science, Engineering or Technology related field.

Must not be bonded or be in receipt of any financial aids or awards from other organisations / institutions at time of application.

TIME OF APPLICATION

Will be announced in the local news media / http://www.studymalaysia.com website around June / July each year.

PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATION

Application forms can be downloaded from http://www.studymalaysia.com or applicants can write to the Kuok Foundation / come to the office for forms in response to the announcement. Requests for forms must be accompanied by a copy of the latest examination results slip (first degree / Masters degree result transcript) and a stamped self-addressed envelope of size 16.5cm x 25cm.

All applications must be submitted before the closing date stipulated in the announcement. Late applications will not be considered.

VALUE & DURATION OF SCHOLARSHIP

For Masters Degree, maximum RM28,000 p.a. for up to 2 years.

For Doctorate, maximum RM38,000 p.a. for up to 3 years.

FIELD OF STUDY

Full-time research in science and technology that is relevant to the country’s needs, for example, biotechnology, composite materials, advanced materials, environmental technology, marine & aquaculture technology, poultry & poultry based products and resource-based products.

BOND

Upon completion of studies, the scholars must remain in Malaysia to work for the public or private sector for a minimum period of 5 years.

IV. KUOK FOUNDATION POLYTECHNIC AWARDS

For Malaysian Public and Singapore Public Polytechnics

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants who have obtained admission to or are currently pursuing diploma / certificate courses at any one of the government polytechnics in Malaysia and Singapore are eligible to apply.

TIME OF APPLICATION

Will be announced in the respective polytechnics around January / February and July / August for Malaysian polytechnics and August / September for Singapore polytechnics.

PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATION

Applicants can request for forms from the polytechnics in response to the announcement. Requests for forms must be accompanied by a copy of the latest examination results slip (SPM / Polytechnic results or equivalent).

All applications must be submitted before the closing date stipulated in the announcement. Late applications will not be considered.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified for interview.

TYPE OF AWARD

For Malaysian polytechnics
- study grant, no service bond.

For Singapore polytechnics
- interest free study loan or half-loan half-grant, no service bond.

VALUE OF AWARD

For Malaysian polytechnics - RM 5,000 p.a.

For Singapore polytechnics - RM 12,000 p.a.
