Scholarships and cash prizes are up for grabs in the art and fashion design competitions organised in conjunction with the upcoming Sarawak Cultural, Arts and Craft Festival.
The state-wide competition aims to identify young talents and raise the standard of art.
Open to budding artists below 25 years old, it offers a first prize of a one-year full scholarship for a selected diploma course at FTMS College and RM1,000.
The second prize is a 50% scholarship for the first year of a diploma course at FTMS College and RM700 while the third prize is a 30% scholarship at the same college and RM400.
Winners will also be invited to join the Sarawak Artists Society and to participate in the festival activities.
The competition with the theme “Contemporary Sarawak” will be one of the highlights of the festival from Oct 20 to Nov 4.
Due to popular demand, the age limit of participants has been increased to 35.
Established fashion designers from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines will be invited to be judges for the competition.
The winner of the fashion design competition will receive a full scholarship for a graphic design diploma course at Limkokwing University and RM1,000.
First and second runners-up will receive 50% and 30% scholarships for graphic design courses at Limkokwing University and RM800 and RM500.
