Taylor’s University College, in collaboration with leading world-class multinationals, is once again awarding full scholarships to outstanding students with exceptional academic results and leadership qualities in the Taylor’s World Class Scholarships (TWCS) 2008. The one-of-a-kind scholarship offers both financial aid and priceless opportunity to intern or train with global brand names.
This marks the third consecutive year of the scholarship scheme which has to-date disbursed a total of RM3 million and benefited 35 students. Inaugurated in 2006 with five multinational corporate partners, the Taylor’s World Class Scholarship subsequently expanded to 13 corporate partners the following year. Following the success of the first two years of TWCS, more partners are being introduced this year. They include AC Nielsen, Deloitte, KPMG, General Electric International, HSBC Bank, L’Oreal, Siemens, Air France – KLM, Four Seasons Resort Langkawi, Galileo, Novotel Hydro Majestic Kuala Lumpur, Sodexho, Arc Worldwide and Universal McCann.
The Taylor’s World Class scholarship is unique in the sense that not only do the recipients benefit from academic and soft skills development, they are also given invaluable opportunities to acquire hands-on experience with world renowned multinationals.
Said Taylor’s President Mr Ooi Chee Kok, “One of the key reasons for the establishment of the Taylor’s World Class Scholarship Award is to mould students’ of today into high calibre individuals who can make a difference in terms of resourcefulness, creative thinking and leadership.
“As one of the forerunners in education, Taylor’s has been and continues to be the leading provider of quality higher education for the nation’s youth to become a versatile and resilient workforce, who are able to take their productive place as leaders in the global community
“The increasing participation from world class companies in this unique programme augurs well for its success as it means more students will benefit and also signifies the growing acceptance and support amongst industry leaders,” said Mr Ooi.
Besides being judged by academic results, students will be assessed by their 300-500 word essay encapsulating the expectations of a TWCS recipient. The applicants will also be judged on their record of extra curriculum activities, positive attitude and leadership qualities.
