Yayasan Sime Darby Undergraduate and Postgraduate Scholarship Programme

Yayasan Sime Darby is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Scholarship Programme - FY 2008/2009.
Scholarships will be offered to individuals pursuing the following fields of study:
• Engineering : Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Computer
• Business : Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, Computer Science,Information and Communication Technology
• Science : Agriculture, Food Technology, Plantations Technology, Plantation Management, Forestry, BiotechnologyUndergraduate Studies
The requirement for Undergraduate scholarship is as follows:
• SPM (minimum 7 A1s in subjects taken) and any of the following:
o STPM (CGPA of at least 3.5)
o Matriculation/ Diploma (CGPA of at least 3.5)
o ‘A Level’(minimum 3As)
o Australian TER (minimum 90.0)
• Individuals pursuing their first or second year undergraduate studies are also encouraged to apply.
Postgraduate Studies
The requirement for Postgraduate scholarship is as follows:
• Masters Degree. Individuals should have obtained a Bachelors Degree with minimum Second Class Upper (Hons) or equivalent.
• PhD. Individuals should have obtained a “Distinction” / “A” grade in average / or any other equivalent grade in their MastersDegree.
Individuals who are currently pursuing their PhD in their first or second year are also encouraged to apply.

I’m a student of SPM year 2006. Currently I’m studying in an allied health sciences college and I’ve finished the 1st semester. My results 4 SPM iare 6A1(Bahasa Melayu, Bahasa Inggeris, Matematik, Matematik Tambahan, Pengetahuan Moral, and Prinsip Perakaunan), 2A2(Kimia and Sejarah) and 3B3(Biologi, Fizik, and EST). To whom it may concern,
im currently finishing up my last semester in BSc.(Hons) Polymer Technology in one of the local universities.
My current CGPA is 3.89 and i graduated my diploma with a CGPA of 3.83.
I have registered to take the TOEFL exams in May and then apply for a placing in the states to do my postgraduate studies.
I would just like to know whether i am eligible to apply even though i have not confirmed a placing yet in states since i havent taken the TOEFL exams yet.

It was a disapointment for me.
I know that my results are not to ur expectations,
But I sternly hope that my application will be put into consideration.
I really need this scholarship because of my family background.

To whom it may really concern.
I got 101 As for my SPM 2007, and I am really interested to get this kind of scholarship, offered by Sime Darby. That’s why i’m here, hoping to get more intention towards this matter. I am jealous because my friends whose results are less than mine, have just been offered scholarships. I admit it is everybody’s fate. But, as one of successful students who did put efforts to get flying colour results for SPM, I think I deserve this much. Thanks to those who are really concern.

I’ll be having my UEC2008(something slightly lower than A levels) and will be persueing tertiary education in the UK, guess it’ll be in Newcastle for the low living cost.

I’m Naheed Azhari, an undergraduate student of International Islamic University Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur (Gombak campus). I’ve been looking for scholarship to defray my tertiary education since after SPM2005. I scored 8As’ (7A1 1A2) 2Bs’. I’m now undergoing my degree level (Bachelor of English Linguistics and Literature, intended to minor in Mass Communication). In my foundation year(2006/2007) I gained pointer of 3.2 in both the semesters. And in my 1st semester degree I obtained CGPA of 3.6. I’ve just finished my 1st year 2nd semester study and still waiting for the result. I’m an active student. I joined numbers of clubs and programs. I was one of the Executive Committe Members in Matriculation Students Coordination Council (a type of student body) in Matriculation Centre IIUM 2006/07. I have this high hope to obtain your scholarship offered for undergraduate studies, moreover it is from one of the prominent organizations like this of yours–Yayasan Sime Darby. I am Tharsini, an undergraduate student with Pittsburg State University Kansas USA. I have been looking for scholarship as I am in my final year. I am majoring in Molecular Biology, my parents have been supporting me so far but due to some financial problem they are unable to finance me. This puts me in a very difficult and trying times as currently I am in the USA.
I have obtained CGPA of 3.0 and working very hard so that I can finish my studies without any problems. My next semester starts in June 2008 so you can see why I am writing this message.

I belief that i meet all the requirements with exceptional grades and skills. Well, I just go through this website accidentally and I would like to give some comments to all students here. I feel pretty sad to read the responses posted here. The minimum requirements for applying this scholarship are listed and if you are qualified, you can just try to apply for it. The method of applying is also stated. I’m wondering why you all like to ask those annoying and meaningless questions. Financial problems and dreams are not the main reasons for you to beg for the scholarship. There are thousands of people having the same problem with you. If you really want to get any scholarship, please show your ability. You’ll get the scholarship if you really deserve it. My last comment, if you want to be an outstanding person, at least, show a proper English when writing. Please respect yourself. Good luck to you all.

I apologize if I hurt some of you. I don’t mean to look down on you all. I can’t say that I’m an excellent student but at least, I always try to do my best and I’ll learn from the mistakes. Greetings. I have obtained Bachelor of Degree with first class honour in year 2007. I would like to pursue my study to higher level or with another degree course. For the former case, can I apply the postgradute scholarship for the phD title?
Currently I have not apply any local/ overseas or public/ private university. Can I apply any scholarship before offered by any university and when should I apply?
Are these scholarship eligible for universities located overseas?

I currently study in the field of Bacelor Science Horticulture in local university, UPM. Unfortunately,when I found out this scholarship it is quite late, but I really want to try to apply for the scholarship .I currently study in second semester. I am currently studying my first degree in Computer Science at University Darul Iman Terengganu. I was wondering to apply for this scholarship using my first year results. Is that possible? I’m shin here. Currently i’m studying degree B.A (HONS) accountancy course in final year. From present, still got 10months only can graduate (will be end my course in April 2009).
